More Ipoh Food

Just to add to my Ipoh Food posting, here's more for your eyes to see, please don't salivate so much on your keyboard, haha!

2 plates of stewed chicken claws, super duper delicious! Please order 1 plate per head because if you share, you will end up fighting for the last piece. It's that good! Opposite 15 Tower, you will find a small food court, there's only 1 stall selling Ipoh sar hor fun, steamed chicken, bean sprouts manned by an elderly couple & 1 fat Indian waiter who speaks Cantonese! reference: http://www.j2kfm.com/fifteen-tower-tauge-ayam-ipoh/
Fried  Yong Liew (Ipoh speak) or yong tau fu (KL speak) at Dai Shee Keok. Reference: http://www.j2kfm.com/yong-tau-foo-pasir-pinji-big-tree-foot/
This prawn noodle is found at night after 10pm between the new town market & Kinta river. Big prawns!
Back to 15 Tower, the bean sprouts are really fat & juicy, the plain sar hor fun in soup can be swallowed without biting, they will just slip down your throat.. Whoee.. I need 2 bowls of that!

Ipoh Food

Hi, being Ipoh-mali myself, I have not been posting on the famous food from Ipoh. So here's some info on Ipoh food. Sorry about the quality of the pics, taken with my phone cam.
This pic above is Hakka Mee , a flattish noodle mixed with fish sauce & dark soya sauce, with minced pork & Fei Yuen. What is Fei Yuen? It's a ball of fish paste+pork+dried cuttlefish. The taste? Best la.. Can't find this in KL. KL's hakka mee is no different from wanton mee as far as I'm concerned. Found this at Paris Restaurant, along Hugh Low St, Just a block away from new town police station.
Here's a bowl of steamed milk, a bit like tau fu fa, the only thing that's worth mentioning other than the usual dim sum at Foh San, the largest dim sum restaurant in Ipoh. I follow the Ipoh Food Blog for my food hunt in Ipoh, http://www.j2kfm.com/ultimate-ipoh-food-list/
Among my favourites, Ngau Lam Fun of Beef Noodles, left bowl is Ngau Lam or beef brisket, right bowl is beef balls & beef tendon balls. Damn, I'm getting hungry just posting this... Found at Sin Lean Lee
The taste? Also can't find in KL! Reference: http://www.j2kfm.com/ipoh-old-town-golden-char-kuey-teow-sin-lean-lee-restaurant/
This bowl of seafood noodles is absolutely lip smacking! Fully loaded with seafood. Only rm9. Cheap compared to KL's Segambut rm17 seafood noodles. Found at: http://www.j2kfm.com/kim-kee-seafood-noodle-ipoh-kafe-kim-keei-off-jalan-bendahara/

Oh my... this plate is glutinous rice with kaya is so sinful, I tell you.. Can find in KL but just not the same. Reference: http://www.j2kfm.com/keng-nam-ipoh-curry-mee-pulut-kaya/
Bowl of beef curry noodles. Where to find in KL?? This is so good too! Just can't get enough of Ipoh food!
Can't remember where I found this but if I think it's at Sin Yin Loong. reference:  http://www.j2kfm.com/ipoh-white-coffee-outlets/
Famous Ipoh Sar Hor Fun & Popiah at Kong Heng. reference: http://www.j2kfm.com/ipoh-kong-heng-restaurant-old-town-hawker-food/
Oh, this chicken chop with broccoli/carrots & potato fried with onions is my own cooking! Delicious! Yes, this blogger can cook too!

In conclusion, Sarawak food is so good...

A visit to Kuching is not complete without a visit to the Orang Utan Sanctuary at Semenggoh.
This is Ritchie, the boss of the orang utan in these parts.
At Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks, located at Grd Floor,  Tun Jugah Mall, about 10 min walk from Tune Hotel/Kuching Hilton
This is their signature dish: Oyster noodles...oh..heavenly...
Snack time! At the food court, end of waterfront, old market area. Beef noodles in soup, dry beef noodles, and at the top is 4 pieces of Sio Bee, Kuching's version of Siew Mai & a glass of soya bean milk.
This is pork spare parts porridge at RM5.50 with everything. You won't find this on the menu, just ask for rm5.50, the cook will know what to do. Best porridge I ever had!
This is where to find the RM5.50 porridge, also at the food court, old market area, end of Kuching Waterfront.
 A dish of mixed mushrooms....
And a dish of "mother of all mud crabs", this 1 crab weighed 1.1kg at RM35/kg. Just look at the size of those claws compared to a Nokia hp. The flesh was fresh & crispy, WOW!! Can't find this in K.L.
This is the stall to find those big crabs at TOP SPOT FOOD COURT at the top of a 4 storey car park, located just behind Tune Hotel Kuching. There are many stalls here. Look for the  '25' signboard.

Breakfast before flying back to KL, Kolo Mee again at Chong Choon Cafe. Simple but good breakfast!

Me at the Kuching landmark, cat statues with Tun Jugah Mall in the background, behind McD sign. I'm facing the waterfront.

More of Kuching food

This picture above shows aboriginal food. It's found at the cafe right next to Tune Hotel Kuching, unique & good, had my first taste of Bario Rice. Interesting food...
This is seafood dinner at See Good Seafood Reataurant, a bit on the pricey side. Taste was good though. A dish of Midin which is a type of fern cooked with sambal, Ginger chicken is the other dish above.
Here are the 2 dishes mentioned & a dish of crab fried with egg. Yummy!
This is to die for... Konlo mee with a bowl of pork spare parts, had to wait 1 hour to eat this delicious fare.
Here is where you wait 1 hour, just off Carpenter Street. Can't miss it.
The best coffee in Kuching & probably Malaysia as well, at Black Bean Coffee.
This is the sigbboard of Black Bean Coffee, simple signboard, great coffee at Carpenter Street. Use your nose to find this shop, the smell is that good!
This is Kueh Chap. A flattish noodle in pork spare parts soup. Must try!!
Here's a dish of stewed fish head, very nice too...
A bowl of seafood porridge, damn.. this is so good! All the 3 dishes above can be found at the temple food court at Carpenter Street.
Seafood dinner again. Grilled prawns, look at the size of those prawns compared to a nokia phone!
 Crab curry.. spicy good stuff..
After dinner, a supper of grilled fish & Foster's beer. This is the life...
Next day's breakfast: from top left, Mee Jawa, cup of coffee, egg on toast (so good) and a bowl of Sarawak Laksa which is described as a cardiologist's nightmare.. Haha! Whatever is not good for the heart ALWAYS  tastes so good!! Why is that??
