People have been asking me, how come I post non-KL food when I'm based in KL? Haha! Ok la, here's my share of KL food:
Lets start here with Teochew food at Restoran Lao Er in Jalan Brunei, behind Shaw Parade.
Teochew food at Lao Er, Pudu.
Braised duck, tong sui, veg..
What I want to eat here specifically is the Kueh Chap in thick dark broth! So super smooth, it just slides down your throat.
Lao Er's set lunch. rm6.90 only.
Close up of the Kueh Chap. Delicious!
Now we move on to Kepong's NICE SOUP GANG RESTAURANT in Taman Daya, near the Petronas station.
New type of veg, dragon veg.
Steamed loong thun/estuary garoupa.Oh so nice & chewy!
Pumpkin fried with salted egg. Sinful! Haha..
Bird's nest.. Yummy!
Mongolian lamb & Hongkong Kailan at Nice Soup Gang.
Now for some western food at Gaucho Grill in Chulan Square, Jalan Raja Chulan just behind Pavilion.
Their set lunch is 1 entree plus buffet salad bar
Salad bar...
My main course: sirloin steak, baked potato, mixed veg.
My salad from the salad bar, yummy! Just loved the salads..
Off the beaten path, if you happen to go to Tg. Sepat, go to the famous pau shop. Hai Yew Heng
Where they have a large variety of pau, eat the hot pau at the kopitiam across from the pau factory, then you tapau (pun intended) the cold pau from the pau factory.
Back to KL, Wangsa Maju to be exact. The famous Burger Kaw Kaw! I waited 1 hour for this.. & I was early, my queue no.4. Haih.. But was it worth the wait? YES!!!!
The menu, its not cheap by any measure but then you get what you pay for, real own-made lean beef patties
They start at 7pm, I was there at 6pm, yet my queue no. was 4!
The queue stretches all the way to the tree in the background.
The cooks in action.
Queue no.1 & 2 brought their tabs to while away the time, guess they must be regulars, haha! Smart!
The kitchen, mind you, this is a roadside stall.
Like the man said, they are pioneers in this!
My dinner! Yeehaw! After 1 hour of waiting, just can't wait to sink my teeth into this lovely thing.. Look at the size of the patties, each patty is 180gm of pure beef, each is bigger than the bun. In contrast, you have to open the bun to find the beef in that famous fast food joint, then you gotta scream, "where's the beef?"
All pics in this posting taken by my 5mp camera phone, Nokia X2. Not bad hor??
